EXPORT FISH QUALITY
Board To Set Standards (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Feb. 14. An export fish market cannot be built unless quality is good and remains good, the Minister of Marine (Mr Scott) told Auckland fish wholesalers today. One of the jobs of the new fishing board to be set up on April 1 will be to set grading quality standards for export fish. The fish would carry an export tag. “If we did not have grading in our meat we would hive been in difficulties,” said Mr Scott The Minister said the Government was looking for the best men it could get for the fishing board. The industry’:' future hinged on the board getting off to a good start. “The Japanese are sitting on our coast and we don’t like this any more than you do,’’ he said. “We should catch the fish ourselves and sell it to the Japanese."
