STRUCK BY RAIL-CAR
Woman Killed At Rangiora A woman aged 85 was killed when she was struck by a rail-car at the High street level crossing in Rangiora yesterday. The woman, on foot, was hit at 6.5 p.m. by the railcar from Christchurch. The warning lights and bells at the crossing were operating.
The police have been asked not to release the name of die woman, a resident of Rangiora, for publication until a relative has been informed of the death. It was the first fatal accident at the crossing for 10 years. The Rangiora railway station is 600 yards past the crossing.
