CLAIM AGAINST POLICE
Allegations ‘Not Proved’ (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Feb. 12. After hearing evidence today regarding marks to the face of Francis Daniel Sloane, aged 45, an upholsterer, who said they were made by the police, Mr A. A. Coates, S.M., held that the allegations were not proved. He convicted Sloane on two charges of drunkenness which had been denied, including one which arose When Sloane visited the court to defend the other charge. Sloane was gaoled for one week on a charge of drunkenness in a city street and two weeks, concurrent with the other term, for being drunk in the foyer of the Magistrate’s Court,
