CLAIMING STANDS

Remit To Be Supported

The council of the North ■ Canterbury Acclimatisation i Society last evening decided to instruct its delegate to the South Island council to support a Southland remit on the claiming of stands for duck shooting. The remit reads: “That last year's occupier of a miamia be allowed to claim that stand from 8 am. on pegging' day. and, if not claimed before noon that day, it be available to another claimant.” Mr C. Mugford said this remit if approved, would stop anyone from using another shooter's stand. The council decided not to. support another Southland remit recommending the setting up of a scheme “whereby game licences can be endorsed throughout the whole country, upon payment of an additional endorsement fee.” The game committee had recommended that the remit should not be supported by the council's delegate.
