Pleasant Point Fair

(From Our Own Reporter) TIMARU, February 12. More than 20,000 two-tooth ewes were yarded at yesterday's Pleasant Point ewe fair. This yarding was of record size, and considering the dry season the sheep came forward in excellent condition, with more than two-thirds of the offering being of good quality. The sale was followed by a very large number of farmers, and the market was buoyant throughout, with most of the sales being 10s to 25s above last year's prices. Top price for the day was £6 7s for three separate pens of Romneys. Last year's best price was £5 4s. A feature of the sale was the strong competition for several pens of Border Leicester-Romney cross ewes. Values were:— Romney and Romney cross two-tooth ewes: extra good, £5 17s 6d to £6 7s; good, £5 to £5 16s; medium, £4 to £4 19s; small, £3 to £3 19s. Border Leicester-Romney cross two-tooth ewes: best, £5 to £5 8s; others, £3 10s to £4 15s. Big Yarding At Fairlie
