Wool Prices Firm At Wellington Sale

WELLINGTON, Feb. 13. Prices at the second day of the Wellington wool sale today firmed on Tuesday’s rates and indicate an average for the two days Id or 2d higher; than last week’s Napier aver-1 age of 57id. Though this is not quite as high as at the peak of the season last year? it confirms the steady upward trend which, has been appar-' ent since Christmas.. ' Good to super Southdown ’ brought the top price of the sale at 78d. A full bench of buyers was: in. attendance, according to the ■ official report issued by -the! Wool Commission. Bidding was t brisk. The offering of 25.000 bales was cleared, with the sale dominated by Continental buyers, supported by Bradford and the United States. Japanese interests were active over Southdown' and Down cross types The over-all market was quoted by the report as fully firm and inclined in sellers' favour for most sorts. The premium paid on Tuesday for long and well grown wools was fully maintained. The selection was similar to the wools offered on the first day.
