TWO YOUTHS REMANDED
Pleas Changed To Guilty (N.Z. Press Association) INVERCARGILL, Feb. 12. Two Borstal inmates were remanded in custody for sentence by Mr Justice .Henry today in the Invercargill Supreme. Court on three charges after changing their pleas when the case resumed.
The two, Alan Larwood, aged 19 and Clifton Ernest Preston, admitted escaping from lawful custody, aggravated assault to facilitate a crime and converting a car. When the Court opened, Mr R. A. Calkin, for the inmates said they wished to alter their pleas. In remanding the two, his Honour asked the Crown prosecutor (Mr J. R. Mills) to furnish a full report from the Invercargill Borstal authorities as to the conduct of Preston and Larwood and tlbeir response to training. The charges arose out of an incident on December 14 when Preston and Larwood left the Invercargill pre-re-lease hostel after their leave passes had been cancelled.
