Pairs Reach Last 20

Two Rocky Nook teams, Mrs D. Stables and Mrs T. Bainbridge, scored the easiest wins in the third round of the New Zealand women's bowls pairs championship in Auckland today. Mrs Stables, playing in the first day of post section play, eliminated Mrs D. Robinson, of Mission Bay, 30-9, to reach the last 20 in this event. Mrs Bainbridge was forced to play her best in her firstround match against the strong Waikato player, Mrs K. Broderick (United, Hamilton), before winning by one point on the twenty-first end, but reached the last 20 when she convincingly defeated Mrs R. Buck (Waitangi), 298.
