Proposals Go To Poll
Proposals by the board of Ready Mixed Concrete. Ltd., to fotm an underwriting company and return capital to shareholders have gone to a poll after an inconclvsive shareholders’ meeting in Sydney.
The meeting, attended by 750 shareholders, is thought to have been the best attended company meeting ever held in Australia. The result of the poll will not be known until next Monday. Against Move
Most speakers from the body of the hall spoke against the directors’ proposals to return Is cash a share capital. 6d a share in the form of shares in a new underwriting company; to spend £2m in developing that company; and to retain £3m cash for further expansion of the basic Ready Mixed Concrete business. The moves by directors follow sales of the company’s United Kingdom subsidiary for £7.4m late last year. Business Personal
Mr J. M. Roche and Mr G. Russell, executive vicepresidents of General Motors Corporation, and Mr E. C. Daum, a vice-president, will arrive in New Zealand at the end of the week for a brief business visit.
