EFFICIENCY STUDY
Social Security Dept. Offices (From Our Own Reporter) WELLINGTON, Jan. 14. W. D. Scott and Company, the management consultants who overhauled the Auckland City Council’s administration five years ago, will make an efficiency study of the Public Service for the State Services Commision. The survey will concentrate on the head office and Wellington district office of the Social Security Department. A pilot survey in the Christchurch district office of the department was made recently. Studies will begin next month and should end in November. With help from some staff from the commission and from the department, outside experts will undertake “clerical work measurement studies.” But any pruning of staff seems unlikely. If reductions were recommended they would almost certainly be achieved through nonreplacement of normal wasttage.
