COLD SPELL IN NORTH
Fish Coming Inshore
(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Jan. 14.
A day of sunshine today followed the coldest January night in Auckland for 33 years. On Monday night, Aucklanders shivered as the temperature dropped to 49.5 degrees. The long period of cold has brought a general drop in sea temperatures, forcing fish to seek the warmer water near the shore.
Titirangi fishermen are reaping a harvest from schools of small snapper driven inshore by the cold of deeper waters. Fishermen in other areas report fish biting earlier than usual.
