FIRE RISK GREATER
Warning From Minister
(N.Z. Press Association)
WELLINGTON, Dec. 16.
“The fire risk over Christmas and New Year is always greater than at any other tune of the year,” said the Minister of Forests (Mr Gerard) today. “The holiday period is extremely trying for all forestry workers. The co-operation of everyone is essential to avoid the possibility of disaster,” he said.
All holiday makers, especially trampers and campers, should appreciate the need for more than usual care. People who saw fire, or even smoke that could come from a fire, should report it at once to the nearest police station or Post Office, he said.
