Pay Losses
After six weeks of the overtime ban operated by London’s busmen it is the public who are the victims, the busmen who are the losers, while London Transport is breaking even, says the “Daily Telegraph.” The public temper shortens as the queues lengthen and the bus crews’ wage packets are slimmer. But London Transport, which has lost an estimated £250,000 in fares, has saved an almost identical sum in wages that would have been paid for overtime.—(London, December 13.)
