Northern New’ South Wales batsmen today threw their wickets away recklessly after South Africa had declared at five for 215 in the one-day match at Lismore. The Northern opening pair, W. Douglas and B. Connolly, mastered the South African pace attack of P. Pollock. J Partridge and C. Haise, but later batsmen tumbled in face of the spin attack of D M. Seymour and D Pi they. Douglas and Connolly were not separated until a superb return from Peter van der Merwe ran out Connolly. Northern were out 20 minutes before stumps for 94 Scores: South Africa, first innings five for 215 declared <J. Waite 98. B. Farrer not out 48: W. Noble two for 31 > Northern New South Wales, first innings 94 <B Bransdou 21. D. Douglas 20: D. M Seymour five for 29. D. Piihty three for 3D.
