EWES FOR INDIA
30 From Stud Near Levin
(N.Z. Press Association) LEVIN, Dec. 16.
Thirty Southdown ewes from Asfiby Stud, Ihakara. near Levin, are being prepared for a sea voyage to India as part of a consignment of 400 stud and flock sheep bought from Freedom from Hunger campaign funds They are expected to leave by the end of the month. After the selection, four Government veterinary surgeons examined the sheep and carried out tests, including a blood test. The pedigree, plus five veterinary forms will go with each of the selected sheep. A veterinary surgeon who spent some time in India during the war considered the sheep would do quite well in certain areas of India in which they would probably be placed.
