SAVED FROM BLAZE

Firemen Broke Down Door

(N.Z. Press Association) WEUJNGTON, Dec. 11. Firemen broke down a locked door and carried to safety a middle-aged woman from her smoke-filled room at her home in Kent terrace this morning. She was taken dazed to Wellington Hospital. A passer-by saw smoke spiralling from the cracks of a closed window and gave the alarm. Firemen rushed into the house and up a stairway to a door underneath which smoke had seeped and partly Allied the passage. Hearing movements inside the room, they broke down the locked door and found the woman partly collapsed on the floor, close to smoke billowing from a fire oai the carpet. There was no structural damage to the house.
