Dual-Purpose Herds (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Dec. 11. New Zealand farmers might And value in stocking with Red Poll cattle as dual purpose herds, according to Lieu-tenant-Colonel Sir John Corbet. President of the Red Poll Cattle Society of Britain, Sir John Corbet said such cattle w-ould help to insure graziers against price changes. “They would allow the farmer to adapt his policies | to the market without changing his herd.” he said. Sir John Corbet arrived in the Orsova today. He will spend a month in the Dominion, visiting Red Poll I breeders.

i “There aren’t too many i here,” he said. “There are more in Australia. Here there seems to be a belief that anything which isn’t a Jersev isn’t a cow. But I’d like to see some of your herds and plan to visit Ruakura Animal Research Station to study milk measurement techniques i there.”

Sir John Corbet has been examining Red Poll herds in Ontario and visited the Royal Winter Agricultural Fair in Toronto.

He naw farms 600 acres in Shropshire, but served in years in the Indian and British armies, mainly with the Royal Engineers in India and Burma.
