OVERDUE YACHT

Police Alert Shipping (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND. Nov. 29. Shipping has been alerted to watch for the 31-foot yacht, Siga Wale, which is reported overdue on a trip from Fiji. The yacht left Suva early this month for Auckland, it has an auxiliary engine and a radio receiver. The crew of three. Mr William James Alfred Ewins, aged 61. his son Robert, aged 22, and a nephew. John Caine, aged 16, have food for 40 days. Mr Gwins lives in'Suva. According to a police message the yacht left Suva on November 10 after estimating the trip would take three weeks. However, it is possible the yacht left on November 6 and called at Kandavu Island. A report in the “Fiji Times” on November 5 said that the Suva harbour authorities had tried to persuade Mr Ewins not to go but he had assured them he would get to New Zealand. Mr Ewins was reported as saying that he had allowed himself 30 days to get to Auckland.
