PEACE AGAIN FAVOURITE
Ballot During Rose Week "The Press" Special Service AUCKLAND. Nov. 14. For the second year visitor* to the Parnell Rose Garden have chosen "Peace” as their favourite rose. It is followed closely by “Queen Elizabeth.” a pink, tall growing grandiflora, and by “Super Star.” a new vermilion-fl-oured rose This is the result of a ballot which was open to visitors to the gardens during Rose Week. The first six choices were: “Peace.” a pale yellow edged with pink, gained 286 votes. “Queen Elizabeth” was given 234 and “Super Star” 152. There were 130 votes for “Mojave,” with apricot shades, “Josephine Bruce,” a deep crimson, gained 108. and “Mission Bells,” an apricot pink. 83
Sometimes it is necessary to apply very small quantities of fertiliser to individual plants. A useful measure is a tablespoon. Two and a half level tablespoons of sulphate of ammonia equals one ounce; three of superphosphate and three and a half of sulphate of potash.
