MAORI WAR BATTLE
Gunners At Function (Special Crspdt. NZ.P.A.) LONDON, November 14. Four soldiers from 94 (New Zealand) Battery of the 42nd Regiment, Royal Artillery, Llanion Barracks, Pembroke Docks, South Wales, are on their way to New Zealand "begging or borrowing” lifts of one kind or another in order to get there by November 20. On that day, in both Pembroke Docks Barracks and New Zealand, will be celebrated the hundredth anniversary of the Maori War battle at Rangiriri. in which the 94 (New Zealand) battery with the 42nd Regiment took a prominent part and distinguished itself by winning two Victoria Crosses. The four soldiers, Sergeant M. M. Mitchell, Bombadier N- J. Livesey, Gunners A. Weaver and C. Barnes, as guests of the New Zealand Army will be staying in Auckland with the 16th Field Regiment, Royal New Zealand Artillery, and will take part in anniversary functions in New Zealand, including a pilgrimage to Rangiriri.
