SHEEPDOG TRIALS
Final Expected To Be Close
The final of the dog trials will begin in the sliow ring at 1.30 p.m. today. Hie calibre of the three competitors and the starxterd of the preliminary trials indicate that the final win be 'very closely contested. Among the competitors is R. M. Wilson, tff Kirwee. who is, one of the most sticcesful dog m the country and has won national honours in' trials as well as winning the event at the Christchurch show several rimes. This year his dog. is Craig. Last year’s winner of the event. W. J. Cunningham, of Peel Forest, will take part to ■today's final with Fly. The third finalist is a newcomer to the main show ring at Christchurch. He is A. G. Sheridan, of Kadituna, whose dog is Moss. The preliminary runs were held .on the trotting grounds car park on the first day of the show. Sixty-one competitors took part, and the standard was very high. Only about-10 dogs failed to complete the course. Only fractions of points separated the piaoe-geters. The judge will be Mr P. Gibbs, of Nelson, a wellknown dog trialist.
