CANCELLED MEETING

No Audience For Mr May Two reporters and a police constable were the only persons who arrived at the Halswell Hall last evening to hear an election address by the Liberal candidate for Selwyn, Mr E. L. May. Mr May and his two organisers waited for half an hour before cancelling the meeting Mr May said the meeting bad been incorrectly advertised m a newspaper tor Wednesday evening when a number of persons apparently went to the hall. This, together with the fact that last evening was late shopping night was blamed by Mr May for the lack of audience He declined an invitation to give his address to the reporters present.
