CAMPAIGN TOLL
Mr Holyoake Hoarse (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND. Nov. 14. The Prime Minister (Mr Holyoake) is having trouble with his voice as campaigning takes its toll. At Tokoroa tonight, speaking in support of Mrs R. M. Stevenson, National candidate for Taupo, he was suffering with a heavy cold and his opening remarks sounded like a croaky bass. “I hope I will warm up presently,” he said. “My voice has never failed me entirely yet, although I’ve had troi|ble with it over the years.” As he developed his argument, Mr Holyoake’s voice strengthened, although husky overtones and a cough persisted over an address lasting almost two hours. He said after the meeting that the state of his voice was “a bit worrying.” He was not taking medical advice or special treatment. “All it needs is a bit of rest,” he said.
