FATALITY AT BENMORE
Widow’s Claim Succeeds (N.Z. Press Association) DUNEDIN, November 14. A jury assessed damages of £11.875 in the Supreme Court at Dunedin today as compensation for the death of a bulldozer driver at Benmore on June 21. 1962. The driver was James Edward Robinson, aged 31. The action was brought on behalf of his widow and four children by the Public Trustee against the Ministry of Works Mr J. B. Deaker, for the Attorney-General, moved that the entry of judgment be deferred but Mr Justice Henry said, in entering judgment, that he would prefer to do this and extend the time for anv application by the defendant to 30 days. The jury found that the Ministry was negligent in failing to supervise Robinson adequately m his work and in describing the area in which he was to work. Mr B McClelland, with him Mr A D Holland, both of Christchurch, appeared for the Public Trustee.
