Canine Obedience
Sir, —Your edition of November 2 reports Mr G. T. Mahon, defending Ronald Albert Hall on a charge of possessing a dangerous dog, as saying that Mr Hall had paid £57 to have the dog trained at the canine obedience school. The Canterbury Canine Obedience Club, which is situated at 82 Lincoln road, is open to all types of dogs, with their owners, for instruction in obedience. The annual fee is £1 for an adult and 10s for a junior, 30s for a husband and wife. On behalf of my committee and the club members I wish it to be known that Mr Hall is not a member of our club, and the fees paid out by Mr Hall seem exorbitant. All animal-lovers, with or without dogs, are most welcome at our club training centre each Sunday afternoon.— Yours, etc., (Mrs) M. WILLIAMSON, Hon. Sec.-Treas.. C.C.O. Club. November 4, 1963.
IMr' G. T. Mahon said: "After obtaining by client's further instructions and his authority to comment. I am
able to say that the reference to canine obedience training was not a reference to the correspondent’s organisation but to a private dog handler engaged by my client. The sum of £57 comprised fees paid to the private trainer and also some veterinary fees.”]
