APPRENTICE PAINTERS
Scholarships Scheme A scholarship for apprentice painters was announced at a meeting of the Canterbury Guild of Master Painters, Decorators, and Signwriters. Mr S. Falkingham, a member of the New Zealand Apprenticeship Committee, said the committee bad been Looking flor such a scheme to create a competitive spirit among apprentices and to advance their training. After passing their trade certificate examinations, the four top apprentices in New Zealand will spend two weeks studying paint chemistry at the British Australian Lead Manufacturers’ laboratories in Melbourne. Then they will spend two weeks with a Melbourne painting contractor to advance their practical knowledge of the trade.
