N.Z. WOMEN’S ASSN.
Annual Meeting In London Now that ample room was available at New Zealand House, London, the president of the New Zealand Women’s Association (Mrs V. Armstrong) asked members to aim at increasing membership. The present membership was 146 and each member should try to introduce one more, said Mrs Armstrong, when speaking at the recent annual meeting of the association in London. Mrs Armstrong commended a fair to be held by the Y.W.C.A. in London later this month and asked for gifts of home-made biscuits for the New Zealand stall to Commonwealth Corner. She thanked the High Commissioner for New Zealand (Sir Thomas Macdonald) for a gift of £lO 10s to the association. The retiring secretary (Mrs E. I. Samuel) read the annual report on the association’s activities for the year. Officers were elected as follows: president, Mrs V. Armstrong; vice-presidents, Mesdames G. Matthews and J. Corry; secretary, Miss B. Firth; committee, Mesdames D. Lawday, L. Cooke, H. Bremner, J. Nesterby, A. Gold, J. J. Walker, A. de Rahm and H. Ronaldson.— (From the London correspondent of “The Press.”)
Victorian Sandwich Cakes (really delicious) are the “Special” today, for the long week-end, at ETHNE’S CAKE SHOP, 125 Cashel street. —Advt.
