SECOND YACHT FOR SCHOOL
Handicap Race In December Aranui High School yesterday launched its second yacht, Bellerophon, at the Christchurch Yacht Club at Moncks Bay. The yacht is a Junior Cherub, supplied by the Canterbury R Class Squadron in kit-set form. It was assembled by the boys. No definite programme for competition between schools has yet been arranged but Aranui, and possibly other schools, will be competing in an event at the Mount Pleasant Club on the weekend of December 7 and 8. Organised by the Canterbury Junior Cherub Owners’ Association, it will be an open handicap race for the Mount Pleasant Trophy. Although not a school fixture it might eventually lead to one.
Theft from Car. — The theft of £33 worth of goods from an unlocked car in a suburban hotel car park on Saturday night was reported to the Christchurch police yesterday.
