Cricket BATSMEN IN TROUBLE

62 Buns Lead For College Christ’s College gained a first innings lead of 62 runs when it dismissed Wanganui Collegiate School for 130 and replied with 192 on the first day of the annual match between the schools at Hagley Park yesterday, Neither side really did justice to the placid pitch and fast outfield. The Wanganui batting—except for a refreshingly aggressive innings of 52 in 74 minutes by R. Wylie—was not very comfortable against the steady bowling of B. Andrews and N. Wilder. The Christ’s College batsmen, although sounder, did not take advantage of some very loose bowling to build up a good score.

S. J. Hunt played a pleasant innings of 42, J. Gebbie contributed a very sound 52. and a sensible partnership between S. Blakely and R. Morten gained Christ’s College a useful first innings lead.
