“DOMINANCE OF C.C.A."

Supporters’ Meeting There was “a slight Canterbury Cricket Association dominance’’ on the committee of the Canterbury Cricket Supporters’ Club, said Mr C. G. Crawford, a former New Zealand player, at the first annual general meeting of the club last evening. Earlier Mr J. T. Eltoft had argued that the present method of nominations for official positions was not satisfactory as it required all nominations to be with the secretary 24 hours before the meeting. Some people would be “shy” and this was reflected in the small number of nominations. The president, vicepresident and secretarytreasurer were all elected unopposed. Mr Crawford said that "C.C.A. dominance” was there and that “there are a good many here who have had nothing to do with the association and would put their heart and soul into the Supporters’ Club.” “I don't think that’s quite true,” said Mr R. C. Saunders, president of the C.C.A. “I don't think any one of those nominated is an ex-member of the C.C.A. and the interim committee didn’t want to create that impression.” It was decided that the manner of receiving nominations be discussed by the newly-appointed committee. Officers elected were:— President, Mr W. A. Hadlee; vice-president, Mr T- W. C. Tothill; secretary-treasurer, Mr N. B. Ullrich; committee, Messrs R. C, Saunders, I. A. Baxter (C.C.A. delegates). D. J. Blakely, A. F- Wright (Minor Association delegates), R. G. Knowles, A. I. R. Jamieson, A. C. Keegan, S. G. Lester, and Professor H. J. Hopkins; auditor, Mr J. C. Saunders. It was decided that the subscription remain the same as for last season, £1 10s. Mr Tothill said that the C.C.A. had offered season tickets to members at a concession rate of £4 for two reserved seats and with afternoon tea facilities being made available. This represented a saving of £1 on the normal season ticket and £2 15s on a day-to-day basis.
