VENEREAL DISEASE
Concern At Increase (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Nov. 13. A world-wide increase in the incidence of veneral disease was causing considerable concern to health organ, isations, said the DirectorGeneral of Health (Dr. H. B Turbott) in Auckland today. Speaking at the opening of the general conference of the Hospital Association, Dr. Turbott said the increase was particularly noticeable in the teen-age group the world over. “This rise has been brought about by the laxity of reporting cases since the advent of penicillin,” he said. “Neither penicillin nor any single drug is a cure-all for venereal disease. The answer still lies with the individual and in reporting cases to the authorities.”
