SOCIETY’S NEW HALL
Opening Next Month The new hall for the Canterbury Horticultural Society, at the corner of Gloucester street and Cambridge terrace, will be officially opened by the Minister of Agriculture (Mr Taiboys) on December 4. About 250 official guests and 150 other persons will attend the ceremony. The official guests will comprise members of the society’s management committee, members of the women’s decorative committee, vice-pre-sidents, life members, local members of Parliament, representatives of the Christchurch City Council, affiliated horticultural societies, specialist societies, sponsored garden clubs and other horticultural organisations. The building will be open from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. and from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on the day of the opening to allow members of the society to inspect it. It will be open for public inspection the next day from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Radio Boom.— The average British family has a radio in the car, one in the kitchen and one in the living room, either of the latter being portable for the bedroom at night. —London, November 12.
