In a study on transport' costs in New Zealand, pub-: lished today, Mr Polaschek says New Zealand's annual; bill for transport is £400; million, or £3 Is 6d a week for each inhabitant. Mr Polaschek was quoting from figures in Uie first transport survey of its type compiled in New Zealand. They related to inland transport services and included all costs for the provision of transport either by way of operating expenditure or through the purchase of capital equipment. The survey, 'Transport in New Zealand. " was released today. It is the first of a series being conducted by the newly - esitablishd economics branch of the Transport Department.
