PRODUCTION POTENTIAL
Attempt At Estimate (N.Z. Press Association) PALMERSTON NORTH, November 12. An attempt at a comprehensive assessment of New Zealand’s potential in pastoral production is being undertaken at the annual conference of the Institute of Agricultural Science, which opened at Massey College today. The whole programme of the three-day conference is devoted to this single theme. Opening the conference, the president (Dr. R. H. Jackman) emphasised that there was an element of crystal gazing in an attempt to estimate the country’s pastoral potential. But if no-one started it, the job would never be done. Though the estimate would be only an approximation, it would at least, be something others could improve upon.
