INSPECTION OF WORKSHOPS
Presentations To Apprentices The annual parents' day at the Addington Workshops, Which has been set for Saturday, November 23, will have special significance for the workshops superintendent (Mr E. F. Hamilton). It is the last display day and diploma before his retirement attend before his retirement next year. Mr Hamilton was the first 'man to receive a diploma under the existing apprentice training scheme at the workshops. Another who will be attending the presentation of diplomas and awards for the last time is the -Lief mechanical engineer (Mr R. F. Black).
Members of the public, as well as parents, are invited to join in the conducted tour of the workshops which will precede the presentations. The staff will be engaged on routine overhauls of carriages, waggons and locomotives and construction of new waggons, vans, and diesel electric locomotives. The apprentice strength of the workshops will be seen in the various trades of general fitting, electrician, carpenter, boilermaker, blacksmith. turner, painter, coppersmith, sheet-metal worker, and upholsterer. The inspection will begin at 830 am., and the annual presentation will take place in the social hall of the workshops at 11 a.m.
