Lord (Or Lady) Windsor May Be Born In Germany

LONDON, November 12. The Duchess of Kent's second baby, due in the New Year, will be first to use the Royal surname Windsor, the “Daily Mail” says. By proclamation of its great - grandfather, King George V, who took the surname Windsor during World War I, the child will have the courtesy title, lord or lady The King decreed that the titles prince and princess should be limited to children and male-line children of the monarch. There are now three Royal babies due early in 1964. The Queen is expecting her fourth child and and Princess Alexandra her first. The Duchess of Kent’s sec-
ond child will be eleventh in succession to the Throne. Tenth in line is her first baby, the Earl of St. Andrew’s. Her new baby might be born in Germany, the newspaper says. If so it will be the first British Royal babybom abroad for at least 200 years. The Duchess will be Hying to Germany in early February, to be near her husband, the Duke of Kent, who rejoins his regiment at Falingsbostel, West Germany, after Christmas leave. The 30-year-old Duchess is now in Hong Kong. The Duke is stationed there as second-in-command of a squadron erf the Royal Scots Greys.
