Substitute For Cranberries
With the possibility of cranberry Jelly and sauco being unobtainable in December. it is a good idea to make a few pots of a substitute jelly and sauce now from tree tomatoes to go with the Christmas turkey. The flavour is very similar. TREE TOMATO JELLY Ingredients: 61b tree tomatoes 6 cups water Sugar Juice of one lemon Method: Scald, skin and slice tree tomatoes and boil to » pulp with 6 cups of water. Strain overnight through a jelly bag and add a cup of sugar for each cup of juice. Boil briskly for half an hour or until it jells when tested, then add lemon juice. Pour into jars and cover when cold. TREE TOMATO JELLYSAVCE Cut up any quantity of tree tomatoes, skins and all. cover with water and boil to a pulp. Pint through a rnouli or atomizer then return to pan allowing a cup of sugar to a cup of pulp. Boil briskly until it sets when tested. Sticking Cellophane.— When cellophane wrapping sticks to the icing on a cake, hold the package under the cold water tap for a few seconds before unwrapping. The paper will hen come off clean.
