PHILIPPINE ELECTIONS
20 Deaths In Campaign (N.Z P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) MANILA, November 11. Nine million Filipinos are expected to go to the polls tomorrow to vote into office eight senators, and thousands of provincial, municipal, city and town officials. Thirty-nine thousand candidates are standing this year] tor 17 elective offices, including two vacant seats for the Lower House of Congress. The armed forces of the i Philippines were alerted to check any incidents. Police report that 15 per-; sons have been killed in] ‘' politically motivated" inci- i dents since September. In 1961 20 persons were; killed during the samei period; and in 1959 15 were killed.
