KAIKOURA VISIT

R.C.M.S. To Sing ‘Messiah’ More than 100 members of the Royal Christchurch Musical Society’s Choir will perform Handel’s “Messiah” in Kaikoura on Saturday, November 23. The tenor soloist with the choir will be Albert Jansson, a member of the United States Antarctic Expedition, who comes from Jersey City, New Jersey. Lieutenant Jansson, who joined the choir last year, studied at the Rochester School of Music, New York, for two years, before deciding to become a dentist. The two female soloists, Margaret Jenkinsen (soprano) and June McWilliam (contralto), are also members of the choir. The fourth soloist is the Christchurch bass, Rodney Macann, Robert Field-Dodgson will conduct the performance and the accompaniment will be played by the choir's pianist, Wallace Woodley, and the Christchurch Junior String Quartet, led by Robin Perks.
