TOWED TO TAURANGA
(N.Z. Press Association) TAURANGA, Nov. 11. A 38-foot launch. Countess, was towed to Tauranga last night after making a call for assistance on the “Mayday” frequency. • The motor in the former crayfishing vessel failed in rough seas about 10 miles south of Mount Maunganui. The distress call was received by tihe Tauranga Harbour Board and passed on to the Tauranga police, who sent the Tideryder to take the Countess in tow. The Countess was on a trip from Whakatane to Auckland with Messrs J. Lidgard and J. Thompson, both of Auckland, on board. The breakdown occurred at about 7 p.m.
