Totalisators

A totalisator with more pay-out windows than pay-in I Is this a punter’s dream ? Actually, the main reason for the large number of pay-out windows at the new Raceway totalisator is to be found in the all-embracing aim of sharpening up the service to patrons so that there will be time to do everything in the very short intervals between races on the night trotting programme. All the former totalisator facilities will be working to capacity, and the new installations have been made in the realisation that the short intervals between races in night trotting have made it necessaryto decentralise the main totalisator as much as possible. A new totalisator has been erected near the parade ring. This has windows for win and place betting and pay-out facilities. There are 111 windows selling win and place tickets on the course, and 132 pay-out windows. There are 79 10s selling windows, 26 £1 windows and six £5 windows. The doubles totalisator will also be working to its maxium capacity, with 31 selling windows. The building at the rear of the tea kiosk, situated by the entrance to the public car park, has been enlarged and contains doubles selling and pay-out facilities as well as late dividend payments and win and place pay-outs. A new ribbon indicator on the main totalisator completes standardised ribbon indication for win and place and doubles investing. The totalisator windows have been arranged so that they are within the shortest possible distance of patrons in all parts of the course.
