UNIONS NOT IN F.O.L.
Labourers To Call Meeting
(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND. Nov. 3.
The Labourers’ Federation is to call a meeting early in the new year of all unions outside the Federation of Labour to try to get unity in the trade union movement. The labourers’ national president of the federation (Mr Harold Kay of Auckland) said that if necessary an attempt would be made to talk with the F.O.L. to resolve differences that had arisen. It was clear that unions outside the F.O.L. had to take the initiative to bring about a united movement, or take other steps to protect their interests.
Mr Kay added that rank and file trade unionists were unanimous in their desire for unity. They would certainly give fullest support to moves to bring it about.
