GYMNASIUM AT SCHOOL
Approval To Begin Plans Christchurch West High School was being careful to learn from the experience of others in planning its gymnasium, the principal (Mr T. R. Richards), told the board of governors. The board gave its approval for preliminary plans to be drawn up for the (.ynmasium project. Some schools had found that a gymnasium 70 feet by 40 feet did not give sufficient space for three badminton courts as well as being used for an indoor basketball court. If the main hall was made 70 feet by 50 feet this would be possible. Acoustics had been found to be another problem which current planners would be able to avoid. The main hall would be begun as soon as possible, and dressing sheds and other amenities would be added as later parts of the project, the board decided.
