Rona’s Choice In Form For Tonight

Rona’s Choice paced two outstanding races at the Oamaru meeting last week-end and she will have to show very little improvement to win at Hutt Park Raceway tonight. She is a candidate for the Members’ Handicap at the Masterton Trotting Club’s annual meeting.

Rona’s Choice is being trained at Tinwald by H. S. Donaldson. She finished fourth on the first day at Oamaru and fifth last Monday. In both races she made up a lot of ground If she begins reasonably well, she should be too good for most of her rivals tonight. Soanga Boy. a member of M. R. Kerr's Morrinsville team, has had a win and a second from two starts this season, form which entitles him to serious consideration in this field.

Opiki Lad paced a fair race for sixth at Hutt Park in September at his most recent start. He could be a sound place prospect. Song Dale. Admiral Adios. Covray and Effie Globe are others expected to race well The double will be run on the Masterton Cup and the Stewards' Handicap, the Canterbury horses, Black Treasure and Bonnie Widow, forming a likely combination. A filly foal by Hal Tryax from Colwyn Bay was bom at Chimes Lodge. Mataura, yesterday. She is a sister to Cardigan Bay. winner of £44.000 in stakes.

Colwyn Bay. which is owned by the Mataura trainer. D. Todd, will return to Hal Tryax this season This is the second sister to Cardigan Bay that Colwyn Bay has produced. The other is a we4l-grown two-year-old which has already been in work at Chimes Lodge. Colwyn Bay is also the dam of Conway Bay and Swan Bay. both by My Chief.
