WARNING TO ANGLICANS
‘Keep Out Of S.A. Politics'

The South African Foreign Minister (Dr. Eric Louw) tonight warned the Anglican I Church not to interfere in political afltairs. ! Dr. Louw directed his remarks at the Archbishop of I Cape Town (Dr. Jooet de Blank) and the Bishop of i Johannesburg (Dr. Leslie iStradling). Dy. de Blank, who is retiring, is an outspoken critic of the Government's apartheid policy. Dr. Louw. speaking to constituents in Williston. Cape Province, said: "The time has come to tell the bishop* that it is not in the interest* of their church to intervene in South African political issues and to confine their attention to the spiritual care of the members of their church." This applied to all spiritual leaders of whatever denomi. nation. Anglican bishop* would be surprised to know how many thousands of their church's members supported the Government, he said.
Cyclist Hurt.—Allan Tucker, aged 19. of 144 Strickland street, suffered face and hand injuries when his bicycle and a car collided at the corner of Moorhouse avenue and Montreal street about 12.40 p.m. yesterday. He was treated at the Christchurch Hospital and discharged.
