THE QUESTION AND ANSWER BOOK OF NATURE is another of the useful Odhams Press publications which cover a very wide field with seemingly unrelated answers to scores of queries common among young children. But, particularly in this instance, the youngster will be aware of distinct patterns by the time he has read it through. With the aid of informative coloured pictures, John R. Saunders covers much of the animal kingdom; toe plant kingdom; rocks, minerals and soil; oceans: stars and sky and weather. Yet all these have significant features presented in short, easily-assimilated sections of about »x inches each. There is a handy index. More than 200 illustrations and maps supplement 157 pages packed with information in OUR COLOURFUL WORLD AND ITS PEOPLES, an Odhams Press survey of Africa, Australasia, Antarctica. the Americans, Asia, the Middle East and Europe. The order is a commentary on growing interest in developing areas. This range could be heavy. It is not The illustrations are colourful and

informative and the maps are outstanding. The writinc i* straight forward, clevery weaving history and geography into very human accounts of where all these nations stand today. Rene Guillot has done a massive job well and will have to be forgiven for giving New Zealand only an inch more than Easter Island.
