COMPENSATION COURT
Judge Refuses Application
An application by the Ellesmere Transport Company, I/d. (Mr C. B. Atkinson) to end weekly payments to Gordon Miller Riekerby, aged 39 (Mr B. A. Banner), was refused by Judge Dalglish in the Compensation Court.
Mr Atkinson said who was being paid compensation by the company for a back injury suffered at work on June 9, 1962, had improved during the period of compensation and was fit for lighter duties. He understood that Rickerby’s difficulties in finding employment were due more to personal reasons than to bis physical state.
Riekerby said in evidence that he had applied for several jobs in the Leestcn district and had been unsuccess-
ful, either because the jobs involved lifting, or there were no vacancies.
The Judge said he would refuse the order in the meantime and adjourn the case to the first sitting of the Court next year in the hope that Riekerby would find employment before then.
