Leaders Gain Wins In Table Tennis

Selwyn I, Eagles, Wallabies II and Dallington gained further wins when the third round of the senior summer table tennis competition was played this week. The unbeaten Selwyn I leads with six points, one ahead of Eagles and Wallabies 11.

Selwyn I had an interesting match with Selwyn 11, winning 8-4. R. B. McCallum (Selwyn ID was in outstanding form and won hie three singles matches, which included a good win over the highly-ranked A. Vermes. However, the latter got some compensation when he beat M. L. Tonkin and his father. L. Vermes.

Dallington surprised with its 7-5 victory over Wallabies I. P. J. Wylie and M. J. Coppen played solidly for Dallington, with Wylie very impressive. The Wallabies I players lacked drive and were poor in doubles play. Wallabies 11, with N. B. Radford unavailable, were still stronger than University and won. 7-5. after a very even match. D. D. M. Stewart (University) was again the dominating player with three wins, while Miss E. J. Pullen and B. T. Edwards gained two wins each for Wallabies 11. Points were: Selwyn I 6.
