NOT TAKEN LIGHTLY
'Will Be Very Fine Bunch”
{From A. R. VEYSEY, N2P.A. Special Correspondent!
NEWPORT, October 31. “All spoils to the victor,” •aid the New Zealand manager, Mr F. D. Kilby, after the All Blacks were beaten by Newport yesterday. “Naturally we are disappointed at losing our first game in Wales but Newport was so much the better team on the day it didn’t matter. "This is the only match I can recall in which Don Clarke has not had a shot at goal and this indicates how seldom we were in their territory.”
The Newport captain, B. Price, warned that the All Blacks should not be taken lightly. “Once they have settled down they will be a very fine bunch.”
"The Times” said Newport began so explosively that the All Blacks were taken out of their stride and never really regained it. It was the first match the All Blacks had been properly bounced about. "Anything in black was felled instantly and unceremoniously.”
