WELLINGTON, October 28. Summer Regent seemed to be hot favourite among the 440 racing enthusiasts who left Wellington last night on the for a two-week Melbourne Cup cruse. While the cup was the main object of toe trip for mew., many said they would combine business with pleasure. For many this is not the first visit to Melbourne to see the cup. Most were confident that New Zealand horses would do well.
The extent of toe organisation behind the cruise wae indicated by toe special Melbourne Cup cruise labels which could be seen on the bottles of beer supplied to toe ship.
